Jupiter King of Gods

I would like to dedicate this post to Jupiter my favorite and most powerful god and share some info on him.The Romans believed in many different gods and goddesses, demigods (half-humans and half god), and spirits. They believed that each god had specific powers and controlled parts of the world. They believed the gods showed their unhappiness by sending earthquakes, hailstorms, and other natural disasters. For each of the gods and goddesses the Romans built temples. These temples were filled with beautiful treasures. Priests looked after the temples and took part in the religious ceremonies. The people regarded the temple as a sacred and holy place. Romans also built statues that represented the god's human form. The temple was surrounded by colonnades. A flight of odd-number stairs led to the entrance. Only priests were allowed inside the temples. Worshippers were allowed in the sanctuaries which were in adjoining buildings. The main god was Jupiter. he was the god sky and thunder and was associated with thunder bolts, breastplate with a picture of a storm cloud.
Over my break i was reading alot and happened to stumble upon a book called The Way to Rainy Mountain. Way To Rainy Mountain is a novel that teaches one how to find themselves and discover who you really are and where your roots were built it is very ted into the theme who am I . Mommaday is part cherokoe and half Kiowa and this is the half which he wishes to discover so his journey takes happens in three parts where he looks at his tribe and recalls what he remembers when he was small and what remembers of his grand motherthen in the next part is the setting out wherehe goes to plaseces of the koiwa where he learns more of his people the the in the last part he reflects on what he has learned.
Scott N. Mommaday is a well renowned author and professor at the University of Arizona who has roots in the Kiowa tribe that reside on rainy mountain which is located in Oklahoma. Mommaday s on a mission to discover who he is and to learn about what it means to be a Kiowa. In the Beginning Mommady does not even know his peoples language nor where the kiowa originated from he visits his grandmother‘s house
which has become lonely because she has passed away. He recalls the Kiowa being festive while she was alive and the house always being filled up with loud noise but know had an eerie silence. He also remembers at his grandmothers that the koiwa had great respect for their elders because it was the elders who taught the traditions on to the next generation. He next visits a few more important kiowa places which prepares him for the next part of his mission the setting off. The setting off is where he goes into the tribe to learn of this once great nation. he goes to learn about myth history and past kiowa individual experiences. Throughout the story Mommaday learns of many myths such as myths about gods, buffalo with steel horns and a grandmother spider all which in their own way tell about the kiowa way of life. For instance there was a myth about a woman who was left in a cradle on a tree which grew till she got to the sky she later married the sun god and they had a child she tries to leave one day but is killed by the sun gods disk. This story shows the rank of woman in the Kiowa tribe and that they were obey their husbands it also has a little symbolism to adam and eve because they like this woman disobeyed their god and were punished. At this time we star to realize that Mammaday has started to pick up on the language he then recalls one f the kiowas most sacred tradition the sun dance a dance repeated by most natives In the area in the end he learns that traiton was sacre t his people and who he was as a kiowa. In conclusion
Monnamday has learned what it means to be a kiowa and what his tradition is all about he has gone through a big change in his life and answered the question he was looking for which is who he was as a kiowa.

Illinois VS Michigan State

The question on everyone's mind before the February 6 match up between the Illini and the Spartans was would State's super star Kalin Lucas would play after injuring his ankle in their previous match up with the Wisconsin Badgers who gave State their first conference lost of the year. In the two teams previous match up Lucas was monumental in State's 73-63 win over the Illini scoring 20 points and dishing out four assist. The Illni are have changed significantlysince that January 16 loss. The Illini are led by their star point guard Demitri McCamy and boost the best field percentage defense in their conference.

vs
When the game began everyone at assembly hall noticed that the Spartans were without their small guy who was big to their success. Even without Lucas Draymond Green and his spartan pals knew they had a mission to do, but McCamy proved to be to much for the Spartans defense having a double-double consisting of 22 points and 11 assist including a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left to play, after true freshman D.J Richardson hit a pair of free throws with a little over 20 seconds to play Junior Mike Davis dunked the ball with the clock running out to seal the deal on Illinois 78-73 win over Michigan State tying the school series at 54 wins a piece

Life of Samuel Pepys

The diary of Samuel Pepys explains in close detail the life of Samuel Pepys from 1660-1669. Pepys goes into detail about events such as the Great fire of London and gives you a perspective of someone living in the in that time period. During my first day of study Ppeys goes through the Great fire of London He first hears about it in the night, but, not realizing the magnitude of the news, goes back to sleep.Jane called us up about three in the morning, to tell us of a great fire they saw in the City. So I rose and slipped on my nightgowne, and went to her window, and thought it to be on the backside of Marke-lane at the farthest; but, being unused to such fires as followed, I thought it far enough off; and so went to bed again and to sleep”(Pepysdairy.com). (September 1666).
The fire burned the whole city and people stayed in their houses as long as they could and lasted for four eight days.(September 1666).

In two successive years of the 17th century London suffered two terrible disasters. In the spring and summer of 1665 an outbreak of Bubonic Plague spread from parish to parish until thousands had died and the huge pits dug to receive the bodies were full.(http://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/England-History/GreatPlague.htm))_ .London starts to look empty because the plague is causing everyone to leave for the country or die of it. Most doctors have died treating the sick including Pepys even Whitehall looks deserted"This day was buried (but I could not be there) my cousin Percivall Angier. And yesterday received the news that Dr Tom Pepys is dead at Impington - for which I am but little sorry; not only because he would have been troublesome to us, but a shame to his family and profession, he was such a coxcomb."(Pepysdiary.com)(January 1665).
While the plague was raging in London in 1666 he remained at his post when many of his colleagues ran away, and he avowed his readiness to take the risk of disease, as others of the king's servants faced the dangers of war. "Up, and by coach to my Lord Sandwiches, but he was gone out. So I to White-hall and there waited on the Duke of Yorke with some of the rest of our brethren; and thence back again to my Lord's to see my Lord Hinchingbrooke, which I did, and I am mightily out of countenance, in my great expectation of him by others' report; though he is endeed a pretty Gentleman, yet nothing what I took him for methinks, either as to person, or discourse discovered to me - but I must try him more before I go to far in censuring.[ Hinchingbrooke, Sandwich's eldest son, now 18, had returned from abroad in August 1665. He had been away for four years, studying in Paris, and travelling in France and Italy.]Certainly this year of 1666 will be a year of great action, but what the consequence of it will be, God knows "(pepysdiary.com)(Febuary 1660)
